After Archie comics lost the rights to Sonic the Hedgehog from Sega this 2017 year, and IDW comics announcing at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con that the IDW company now has the rights from Sega to be the new Sonic the Hedgehog comic book publisher rights starting in 2018, Sonic and Sally Acorn have their say about this.
IDW does have some tendencies to finish series from other companies when they get the rights. And since the comic characters, aside from those made by Ken Penders and others that won't give permission(Like Mammoth Mogul's creator) are owned by Sega, it would be safe to say someday, especially with Ian Flynn once again at the writing helm for Sonic.
Don't forget IDW has reprinted in recent years vintage Star Trek, Popeye, Disney, Transformers, and G.I. Joe comic book stories from previous comic book owners of these franchises.
I hope so.
I'm going to be pulling my hear out about this! It broke my heart when I heard the comic was being cancelled. But I have read that Sega does own the rights to all the character s from the comic too. Well except for all of Ken Penders characters. I just hope they do include the Freedom Fighters and some of the other new characters that came in after the NU 252. I'd be willing to lay even odds IDW will use at least some of the characters do to fan demand if nothing else.
Ya know I'd be OK with loosing the likes of Julie sue and st. John if we get to keep, Sally, Bunny, Ant, and rotor. I personally think every fan of the Satam universe needs to wright IDW about our feelings. If they see $$$ from keeping them around they will
Why NU 252?
Everything before hand, many of the characters were taken from the series by Ken Penders. The NU 252 was a rewrite to pretty much erase all his characters and make room for new ones. I mean even Evil Sonic can't be used anymore thanks to Ken.
